MyPlate Holiday Makeover // Cinnamon Apple Chips

You might be surprised to find out that the average amount of calories consumed per person on Thanksgiving day is 4500.  That’s 2500 calories more than the average person should consume in one day!  Although one high calorie day may not seem like that big of a deal, think about how many get togethers and parties you are likely to attend this holiday season.  Thanksgiving may be over, but there are plenty of celebrations still to come.  If we start to add up how many calories we are likely to consume, it’s clear to see why many Americans pack on a few extra pounds during the holiday season.

By following a few simple steps to give our meals a MyPlate Holiday Makeover, we can keep our plates looking healthier this holiday season.

It’s also important to make exercise part of the fun this holiday season.  It’s easy for physical activity to get lost in the hustle and bustle.  Include some activities during your holiday get togethers to get people up and moving.  Consider going for a walk, completing an indoor workout as a family, or playing a game of tag football.
