Did you see our Weekly Menu Plan blog post last month? It talks about the steps you take to plan your dinner menu for the week using your local grocery store ads. If you missed it or just need a review, click here. Then come on back and see what I’m planning this week! Remember that planning your menu is the best way to save money and boost the nutrition of your meals.
Some of the sale items this week from grocery store ads in my area are:
- Red Potatoes
- Bell Peppers
- Yellow Peaches
- Chicken Breasts
- Canned Vegetables
- Canned Fruit
- Canned Tomatoes
- Canned Beans
- Frozen Vegetables
These sale items can be used in the six recipes below or served on the side of one of your favorite recipes to make a MyPlate meal.
- Black Bean and Corn Salsa
- Cheesy Potato Soup
- Chicken Creole
- Southwest Potatoes Au Gratin
- Taco Salad
- White Chili
Use these recipes for your evening meals throughout the week. On the seventh day of the week give yourself a break from cooking and plan to eat leftovers.
Make it a MyPlate Meal! Serve Black Bean and Corn Salsa with a grilled chicken breast over top a bed of brown rice. Enjoy with a glass of milk and add some fruit to the side with Fresh Peach Crisp.
Southwest Potatoes Au Gratin make a great side dish to many meals. Serve it with grilled chicken, a grilled cheese sandwich, and a bowl of fruit to make it a MyPlate Meal. Instead of using a taco seasoning package bought at the store, try making your own taco seasoning. You can find my favorite recipe by clicking here.
Since ground beef wasn’t a sale item this week, try using some grilled chicken instead. For a healthier alternative to store bought tortilla chips, check out this recipe to make your own at home. Make sure to add some fruit and a whole grain to your plate to make this a MyPlate Meal.
