Hello! Welcome to Eat Well Utah by Food $ense Creates and SNAP-ed.
At Eat Well Utah our goal is simple. We are helping families and individuals obtain the best nutrition with the resources they have. We do this by presenting important nutrition information, demonstrating tasty, low-cost, healthy recipes, and sharing information on staying physically fit. Eat well Utah was started in conjunction with the Utah Food $ense Program. This program is a part of Utah State University Extension and is known nationally as SNAP- Ed (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education).
Food $ense offers free nutrition and cooking classes in many counties throughout the state of Utah. We can be found teaching throughout the state at local Extension offices, in grocery stores, schools, and local farmer’s markets just to name a few. At each class, new recipes are shared and tips on eating well and living a healthy life are taught. To find out more about classes in your county, click here.
Candi Merritt is the author and administrator of Eat Well Utah. She is a Certified Nutrition Education assistant through the National Nutrition Certification Program (NNCP). She attended Utah State University, graduating in Financial Counseling and Planning. After graduation she worked as a Housing and Financial Counselor for the Utah State University Family Life Center. She started working with the Food $ense program in 2008. She is a Utah native and with her husband, Brandon, is raising their four children, including newborn twins. She enjoys cooking, exercising, and running her own portrait photography business.
